ROXBURY HOUSE RENOVATION
Seattle, Washington
Built in 1970, Roxbury House is part of the
Turnkey project for the Seattle Housing Authority. The renovation of the
building included reducing the total unit count from 150 to 130 by increasing
the number of 1-bedroom units through the combination of studios. The renovation
also included a south-facing sun room/lobby addition, an addition of a patio
room at the basement level, a new feature stair connecting the first floor
to the basement to create a more inviting community space, and a complete
redesign of the site to achieve a park-like setting. A majority of the building
systems and finishes also received upgrades.
Once the renovation is complete, Roxbury House (to be called Westwood
Heights) will be a low-income near-elderly residence for individuals over
55 years of age.
