JENSEN BLOCK RENOVATION
Seattle, Washington
The Jensen Block project entailed a substantial renovation of a historic wood frame and masonry building. Originally built in 1906, it is one of the oldest historically significant mixed use structures in Seattle. The renovated building now provides thirty low-income apartments and six retail areas. The scope of work included structural upgrades, brick restoration, roofing, and replacement of rear wood decks and stairs. Interior renovation included mechanical and electrical upgrades. Preservation of the exterior wood balcony and commercial storefronts were critical for maintaining landmark status and neighborhood support.
Client: Low Income Housing Institute
Awards: Received Award for Outstanding Efforts in Preservation Design, Washington Trust for Historic Preservation.
