FORT STEILACOOM RESTORATION
Steilacoom, Washington

Four surviving officers' quarters located on Western State Hospital grounds compose Fort Steilacoom, and they are the oldest group of buildings in the state of Washington. The group was constructed by the U.S. Army, circa 1858. The project involved an initial adaptive reuse study, a restoration and archaeology report, and complete architectural and engineering design and construction services. The complex structural repairs included foundation reconstruction and porch, siding, window, and roof repairs.
