Hoquiam Timberland Library:

This 1911 original Carnegie Library was built in the prairie style, a style that is rare in the Northwest. An 11,000 square foot addition was added to the original 6,000 square foot building. The functional requirements of the project were to locate the books above the 100 flood level as well as providing new reading and gathering spaces. To complement and enhance the existing building architecture, extended eaves, plaster frieze-work, and brick, typical of the prairie style, were utilized in the new addition. The integrity of the existing building was maintained by placing the new entrance to the building outside of the historic structure.

The design was provided by the original firm name of Tonkin Koch Architects.
