Garden Court Apartments:

The site for this multi-family apartment project, in Seattle's dense Capitol Hill neighborhood, fronts on an arterial street but transitions up the sloping sides to a single-family home streetscape. The 3-story main façade, situated on an existing high bank front yard, is broken into two distinct parts, each with their own visual identity, more in keeping with the scale of neighboring apartment buildings along 19th Avenue. Ground-floor units are given individual entries on the street. Along the sides the façade steps down to two stories and modulates to visually transition to the small houses up the hill. A below-grade concrete parking garage connects under the buildings behind the high-banked front.
